Had towed here because my Tdi beetle would die at idol. Boost off with another diesel. Runs and drives fine. Just wouldn’t idol. Needed it diagnosed. Called before I towed it here. The air box and intake tube were not on(in the floorboard) when I called 4 days later was told “we don’t want to touch it” we had a short conversation about it. Ask if they hooked a scanner to it “no” was their answer. That’s why it’s there. Please do that… called back 4 days later. They informed me was “ it didn’t read”. Picked up the car (no charge because they didn’t do anything ) drove car home. Hooked up a $70 auto zone scanner to it! Worked just fine. (Still not fixed) won’t be suggesting them to anyone, they seem like they just want to change oil and put wheels on. Since I can’t reply to the owner I’ll edit it! the mas was still plugged on the air box in the front floor board. If you cared to look. Instead you gave a “we don’t want to touch it” lazy. I’m disappointed in the fact that you didn’t try.
Mr. Stephen Cox, your 2005 vw beetle tdi, did in fact have an idling issue. As the entire intake assembly for your vehicle was missing, including the Mass Air Flow sensor. The items in the floorboard of your vehicle were the intake box and tube, but there was no Mass Air Flow sensor. We have reviewed your call recordings and you were told that in order to fix your vehicle correctly that it would be necessary to use the mass air flow sensor, along with multiple other items that were missing. In regards to the “Scanner”, scanning the vehicle would show a mass air flow fault because of the sensor not being there, and any further diagnostic, could not be performed correctly until the MAF and other items had been replaced. You stated that your vehicle did not need the MAF and other items to run correctly. Unfortunately we are not going to lower our standards and not repair a vehicle correctly, and that is why we told you we would not work on your vehicle. We hope that you are able to find a facility that would be willing to oblige to your demands. Although you may think that your vehicle doesn’t need certain sensors or parts, It does seem oddly coincidental that your vehicle had an idling issue, when it was in fact missing parts and sensors…
